What is Disordered Eating?
Disordered eating is used to describe a range of irregular eating behaviours that may or may not qualify for GP referral. Whereas the symptoms of an eating disorder fall into specific medically defined categories such as Bulimia or Anorexia for example, sufferers of disordered eating may display a range of very different eating patterns that do not fit into these confines.
From food sensitivity and issue with textures or the colour of foods to emotional over or under eating or using food to mask trauma, disordered eating comes with a large range of symptoms and stems from a broad range of triggers.
Vanessa, one of our UCU co-founders, had a lived experience of disordered eating in her teens which was resolved through modifications in her mindset, diet and movement transformation. Vanessa was able to take back control of her wellbeing and have restoration of health.
