Colette Kirk
Director of Gut Health
Meet Colette, our expert Dietitian and Director of Gut Health. Colette graduated in 2009 with a BSc (HONS) in Biomedical Science. Throughout the course she became fascinated by the interplay between food and science, and the impact that food and nutrition have on health and well-being. In 2010, she went back to university to study post-graduate dietetics and has never looked back.
Colette specialises in all disorders of the gut, whether that be IBS, IBD, or intestinal failure, the list goes on. She is passionate about improving the lives of individuals suffering with chronic conditions and in 2020 was awarded a prestigious research fellowship from the National Institute of Health Research and Health Education England to complete a clinically focussed PhD. Her multi-centre research focusses on the biological impairments of quality of life in individuals with chronic health conditions to understand what can be done to improve symptoms and long-term outcomes.
Colette is fascinated by the gut microbiome and part of her research involves looking at different species of bacteria within the gut to understand how they impact long-term health outcomes. To date, Colette has over 25 publications, has co-authored clinical guidelines and has presented her work worldwide.
Colette is a keen ultra-runner and outside of work you will find her on the trails, travelling, or trying out new recipes!
